Davao Christian High School school year 2018 to 2019 has officially begun today, June 30, as high school students had their first day orientation in the school auditorium.
Before the orientation proper, junior high school faculty member Charivel Aban led the praise and worship, followed by an opening message by Christian Education department head Mrs. Jennifer Lim-Frac.
“God is the original ‘advance akong mag-isip,’” she said in her message as she showed a picture of the trending ‘advance akong mag-isip’ meme.
She explained through the verses Jeremiah 1:4-5 and Isaiah 44:2a that “advance mag-isip ang Panginoon” because He already knew who the people are even before their birth.
Another reason for this, she expounded, is that the Lord has plans for everyone, as stated in Jeremiah 44:2a.
She then encouraged the students to respond to these two key points in thanksgiving and trust.
“Everything that is happening is the Lord’s plan. Trust Him because He never commits mistakes,” she said.
She also urged the students to prepare for the future by starting now.
“The things you are doing today should be for the future,” she added.
Desi Dario Magnaye, junior high school principal, then introduced to the students the teachers and their respective subjects and grade level assignment. He also reminded the students about the school’s vision and mission.
Student Council President Luke Justyn Perez presented the student governments’ plans and projects for the whole school year and informed the students of the events that will take place.
School nurse Jeanne Mission, high school librarian Joan Besana, and guidance counsellor Sashi Faye Cagampang talked about the policies of their respective departments.
The second part of the orientation will be held tomorrow in the students’ respective classrooms.
The annual Spiritual Emphasis will follow on Wednesday, August 1, and end on Friday, August 3.
