In her enriching talk, “How to Bully-Proof Your Child”, Dr. Piap-Go discussed ways to build a child’s emotional resilience, protect them against the painful effects of bullying, and find effective means to deal with bullies.
Among the tips she shared to parents on how to help children cope with bullying are: to let them know that they are valued in the eyes of the Lord; to let them know that it’s not their fault; to let them understand that hostility isn’t logical; and to emphasize that many of the kids who witness the bullying are on her/his side.
In addition, Dr. Piap-Go emphasized that parents should build their kids’ emotional resilience by having a caring and supportive relationship within the family, making new connections with other people, teaching them to embrace failures, developing their confidence, and having an optimistic attitude.
