On September 17, 2019, the Grade 9-Leviticus students had their first-ever Student-Teacher Day where they were given the opportunity to have a taste of a teacher’s life for a day. Each student was assigned to a particular cooperating teacher who handles either Preschool or Grades 1-4 classes. The student-teachers (Gr. 9 students) spent most of their day from 7:30am up to 3:00pm with their respective cooperating teacher either helping them with some tasks, observing and assisting them in their classes, and even having meaningful conversations with them as mentors. After doing some class observations and consultation with their cooperating teachers, the student-teachers were given a chance to handle the class or deliver the lesson/activity as the acting teachers themselves (with the supervision of their cooperating teachers). After the teaching-experience, the cooperating teachers gave their feedback to the overall performance of the student-teachers.
By 3:00pm, all the student-teachers gathered in their classroom to have their culminating activity which includes debriefing, processing and sharing of their over-all experience. With it, the Grade-9 students affirmed and commended the hardwork , patience and dedication of their teachers in investing their time, effort and heart in the teaching ministry.
